These aren’t your grandmother’s
flower arrangements.
My story …
My name is Dawn Hunsdorfer and I have always grown flowers.
I have always loved to grow and arrange flowers and in the past few years was asked to do flowers for friends’ and families’ weddings - beginning with my daughter’s wedding in 2014. I had not yet considered growing my own flowers for events so big, so I would purchase them from local U-picks or from the wholesaler.
Then it occurred to me - why don’t I grow them myself? I took a deep YouTube dive and found several mentors to follow and took some online classes to learn to grow on a larger scale.
I was all ready to start, but throw in a pandemic, a move, and a knee surgery later, and well, you get the picture.
We finally moved to our new property in early summer 2022! We started bed planning and prep in the fall, and 2023 was my first season growing in my new space.
As for our name … this proved to be a little tricky! I started by trying to reflect the names of the nearby area. Names considered were “Elverson Flower Co.”, “Twin Valley Flower Co.”, and “Red Hill Flower Farm”. But none of them felt right. Then I noticed a whole bunch of violets growing all over the property (this is typical for our area) and my husband suggested “Violet Hill Flower Co.”. We do live on a lovely hill and the thing that sealed the deal was that my pitbull’s name is Violet, and we had for 3 years before ever moving here.
Grown with love —
Harvested with care
Most of these flowers are started from seed by me, some plants are purchased as seedlings and are then grown on by me. The plants are not treated with harsh chemicals or insecticides.
All are harvested fresh by me at the correct time and conditioned for the longest vase life for you.
“Thank you so much for the flowers. They were gorgeous! And they lasted two weeks!”
